The power of what one dancer can do.
Are you the only Shimmy Mobster in your city? No one else in your city joining you? Here is what one of our participants shares:
"I want to address you. You alone dancing tells me you are bigger than the event itself. You signed up for a reason, stay focused on that reason. This event is to here for us to do good for the countless numbers of victims of domestic abuse. One dancer isn't a mob? One dancer can change one victim's life simply because you signed up to participate. You showed up. What if you dancing alone with a sign and a coffee can manages to raise $50? That performance could be life giving to an individual who is living in a desperate situation. Your performance may give her hope to leave her abuser. You performance might keep a family together in a shelter instead of huddling in a car parked at all night eatery. Your performance is as important and a valuable as any other participant.
On .Sunday May 11 you will wake up knowing you were part of something amazing.
And as a former resident of a shelter, I thank you. From the depths of my grateful heart."
